Hamburger Menu Behavior between Simplabots and Loom

PLEASE START WATCHING AT 0;55. THANKS.

During usability tests, I noticed that the hamburger menu (the three‑line icon for toggling navigation) behaves differently in Simplabots compared with Loom. This difference may confuse users who expect consistent patterns across applications.

Observations

  1. Simplabots– The dashboard displays a left‑hand sidebar navigation by default. When the hamburger menu is clicked, the entire sidebar collapses/disappears, leaving only the main content. Clicking the icon again restores the sidebar.

  2. Loom– In the Loom video player interface (especially in narrow/mobile view), the sidebar navigation is hidden by default. The hamburger menu opens a drawer containing library options and account link. The menu serves primarily as a “show navigation” button rather than a “hide navigation” toggle.

Users who regularly interact with multiple web apps might expect a consistent behavior from the hamburger icon.
